The "Greatest Movie Musical of All Time" has been faithfully and lovingly adapted into an accessible 60-minute version in Singin' in the Rain SR, making it a wonderful choice for community theatre productions. Hilarious situations, snappy dialogue, and a hit-parade score of Hollywood standards make Singin' in the Rain SR the perfect entertainment for any fan of the golden age of movie musicals, especially within intergenerational and wellness-focused arts initiatives.


Singin' in the Rain SR has all the makings of a Tinseltown tabloid headline – the starlet, the leading man, and a love affair that could change lives and make or break careers! In silent movies, Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont are a hot item, but behind the scenes, things aren't always as they appear on the big screen! Meanwhile, Lina's squeaky voice might be the end of her career in "talking pictures" without the help of a talented young actress to do the talking and singing for her. This engaging story is perfect for a nonprofit arts organization in Raleigh looking to inspire its audience through senior theatre and community engagement.


Show Location: Raleigh Little Theatre,  301 Pogue Street, Raleigh, NC 27607 

Audition Location: All auditions and performances take place at Raleigh Little Theatre between 1pm and 4pm.  

For Auditions: Prepare a song in the style of the show, a verse and a chorus. Bring music - no acapella. Dress for a short movement audition.

This 60-minute musical is an opportunity to "Raise Your Voice!"


Based on the hit 1992 film and Tony-nominated Broadway musical, Sister Act SR. is the feel-good musical comedy that will have everyone jumping to their feet! Featuring original music by Alan Menken (Newsies, Beauty and the Beast, Little Shop of Horrors), lyrics by Tony and Grammy nominee Glenn Slater (The Little Mermaid, Leap of Faith), and a witty book by Cheri Steinkellner (Hello! My Baby) and Bill Steinkellner, Sister Act SR. is an upbeat powerhouse with spirit (the Holy Spirit).

At Dancing Man Productions, our mission reaches far beyond theatre. 


We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of adults aged 55 and older through meaningful opportunities to perform, connect, volunteer, and build community. We believe that creativity, purpose, and friendship should never have an age limit.


Whether we're producing Broadway-style productions, participating in the Walk to Defeat Dementia, or partnering with organizations that support older adults, we are committed to creating experiences that reduce social isolation, inspire joy, and foster a true sense of belonging.


Our team was honored to participate in the Walk to Defeat Dementia alongside Dementia Alliance of North Carolina, standing with families, caregivers, and advocates working to bring hope and awareness to those affected by dementia.
