The "Greatest Movie Musical of All Time" has been faithfully and lovingly adapted into an accessible 60-minute version in Singin' in the Rain SR, making it a wonderful choice for community theatre productions. Hilarious situations, snappy dialogue, and a hit-parade score of Hollywood standards make Singin' in the Rain SR the perfect entertainment for any fan of the golden age of movie musicals, especially within intergenerational and wellness-focused arts initiatives.
Singin' in the Rain SR has all the makings of a Tinseltown tabloid headline – the starlet, the leading man, and a love affair that could change lives and make or break careers! In silent movies, Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont are a hot item, but behind the scenes, things aren't always as they appear on the big screen! Meanwhile, Lina's squeaky voice might be the end of her career in "talking pictures" without the help of a talented young actress to do the talking and singing for her. This engaging story is perfect for a nonprofit arts organization in Raleigh looking to inspire its audience through senior theatre and community engagement.

“Open the window any way you can” has served as the motto that Freddie Lee Heath has lived by as a dancer, performer, teacher, and choreographer for over 40 years. Freddie Lee holds a BS in Dance from East Carolina University and a Masters in School Administration from North Carolina State University. He worked for Wake County Public Schools in Raleigh, NC since 1992, teaching dance at all K-12 levels. Recently retired, he served the district as Director of Arts Education, where he firmly based his work on an equity-based practice that emphasized arts for all, combined with rigor and relevance, as he guided the work of 650 arts educators. Freddie Lee was one of the first dance educators in the country to achieve National Board Certification; he now mentors others through this process. In 2010, he served as president of the North Carolina Alliance for Athletics, Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance, where he distinguished himself as only the second dance educator to serve in the 122-year history of the organization. Heath has received numerous awards for his teaching, including “Dance Teacher” Magazine’s 2008 K-12 National Teacher of the Year and National Dance Association’s 2010 National K-12 Teacher of the Year. He has also been honored with The Order of the Long Leaf Pine, Raleigh Medal of Arts, and the Business Support of the Arts Award for Arts Education by United Arts Council and Raleigh Chamber of Commerce, among others. Freddie Lee has choreographed and performed across North Carolina for various community theatres including the North Carolina Theatre, Raleigh Little Theatre, Honest Pint Theatre, Justice Theatre Project, Emily K Center, Cape Fear Regional Theater, Benson Little Theater, MacGregor Hall, In Harmony, North Carolina State University, and North Raleigh Arts and Creative Theatre. Still a practicing artist, his current choreography projects include “Triangle Rising Stars” for Durham Performing Arts Center and Theatre in the Park’s “A Christmas Carol,” as well as the Miss North Carolina and Miss North Carolina Teen Competition. As a master teacher, Heath has traveled to 35 state conferences and beyond, including the National Museum of Dance and the National Dance Company of Armenia. He works with many school systems, leading workshops for students and teachers in Durham, Forsythe, and Cumberland County. Recently, he served as a master clinician at the American Dance Festival at Duke University. For over two decades, he has provided dance instruction to three groups of senior dancers, ladies ranging in age from 55 to 96 years old. These intergenerational and wellness-focused arts groups (Sassy Classics, Dancing Divas, and Razzmatazz) exemplify his belief that dance should be for everyone and has the power to change lives. A tireless advocate for nonprofit arts organizations and arts education, Freddie Lee believes that if you can walk, you can dance. He has made it his life’s passion to share this philosophy with the people of North Carolina.
